Will Robert B. Hare apparently died intestate. The following letters to the court concern the settlement of his estate.
The petition of Sam'l Black, adm. of the estate of Robert Hare, late of said county, decd, was presented to the court showing that the said Robert B. Hare died intestate, siezed in his ? as, of fee of the following real estate, to wit all the one undivided half of that certain island situated in the Allegheny River, opposite the Bor. of Tarentum in the Co. of Allegheny: the entire island containing about 14 acres; that the personal estate of said decedent is insufficient to pay his debts and that it is requisite to sell the real estate for the payment thereof to. And praying the court to authorize sale by him of the real estate described in this petition. Inventory and appraisment of the personal estate filed with a just ? of the debts; affidavit of Sam'l Black filed, and now to wit, Oct. 3, 1857, the petition having been presented in open court and considered the court grant the prayer thereof and award to expose the said real estate of said decedent at public sale after having given due notice of said sale according to law, and that they file in office of clerk a bond in $500. That in pursuance of the order of said court made on the third day of Oct. 1857 after due public notice, according to law, we did on the 26 day of December, A.D. 1857, expose the premises to messages, therein described to public sale at the commonly known as Millers Island and then and there sold the premises in the said order described to wit: All the undivided half of that certain island situated in Allegheny River opposite the Bor. of Tarentum in the county of Allegheny, the entire island contains about fourteen acres, at seventy dollars to Alexander Hare, his heirs and assigns with the appurtenances, which the highest price bid for said property and which sale so as aforesaid made, we pray may be confirmed to said purchaser by the court.
