Mrs. Maria Black of McKeesport, Pa. died Saturday of the grip. She was the mother of Dr. Black of McKeesport and J.T. Black of Duquesne.

From McKeesport Daily News, Saturday Evening, April 11, 1891:
The Aged and Respected lady Expires After a Short Illness
At 1:35 this morning, Mrs. Maria, wife of Mrs. Samuel Black died. The lady's sickness dated only from last Tuesday, when she was stricken with the prevailing disease, la grippe, and although everything possible was done for her she gradually continued to grow worse and finally inflammation of the kidneys developed, which carried her off this morning. Mrs. Black was 68 years of age and a lady whose many good traits had won for her the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends, to whom her demise causes much sorrow. She had resided in McKeesport about ten years, having some here from Tarentum, Pa, where the family lived for about 30 years. Deceased was born in Ireland. There survive her a family consisting of husband, Mrs. Samuel Black, and three sons, namely, Dr. J.T., Dr. R. J. , and Dr. C.H. Black.
The funeral will take place on Monday. The remains will be taken on the 8:10 train over the B. & O. Monday morning for Tarentum for internment.

The remains of the late Mrs. Samuel Black, accompanied by a number of sorrowing friends of the family, were taken on the 8:10 train this morning to her old home in Tarentum, Pa., for interment.
